Growing the team: An interview with Joe Lohndorf

Joe Lohndorf recently joined the Parallel Works team as our Head of Sales. He brings years of experience working with customers to support their use of modeling and simulation tools, and is intimately familiar with the challenges and opportunities in the market today.  We’re thrilled to have him on board and are looking forward to working together to bring the power of the Parallel Works technology to new customers.  Read on below to learn more about Joe – and don’t miss his answers to the last question (we of course had to save the best for last!)

Where are you from and where are you based?

I am originally from Portsmouth, NH and currently reside on the NH Seacoast with my family and dog.

What initially attracted you to Parallel Works?

I was very impressed with the technology and platform, as well as the larger vision for complete scalability, automation and collaboration for engineering environments.  Having worked in this industry for over 15 years, I’ve seen the challenges engineers face in the design environment.  I saw Parallel Works as a solution unlike anything I’ve seen in the market for true automation, collaboration and scale. The company has a platform and technology that will change the way people collaborate and design, removing many of the roadblocks that exist for engineers today.  It brings together all of the pieces – and does so in a user friendly way, which is critical to deeper integration. I was really compelled by the technology, and the opportunity to make a real impact on both the company and the industry.

How do you feel about working for a startup vs. working for a larger firm?

The energy of a start-up was something I was missing throughout my career.  I wanted to bring my experience to a very talented team – and thought that Parallel Works fit that well.  Working with a team of highly motivated and skilled individuals encourages me to strive to be the best I can be, and help the company to achieve greater heights.  In a startup, you wear many hats which is exciting… Your work in a start-up has a much greater impact on the company, in comparison to larger, more established organizations.

What value do you feel Parallel Works can bring to customers?

Like I said earlier, I feel Parallel Works can break down many of the barriers currently holding the industry back.  The biggest questions on everyone’s mind today is  “how do we innovate faster?”, “How do we provide better quality solutions to our customers?”  I think Parallel Works has a very unique solution to address these questions and move the industry forward as a whole by delivering scale, automation, and deeper integration in a user-friendly way that makes the power of simulation more accessible.  I’ve seen a handful of solutions that offer one or two of these benefits, but the real impact comes when you bring all of these pieces together – the scale, integration, collaboration and ease of use. This is how firms will drive innovation and push the boundaries in engineering design.

What do you do in your free time?

I love playing the drums, maybe start a band.  Riding my motorcycle and dreaming of exciting ways to utilize the Parallel Works platform for next generation engineering and design!
